— Best of Planners —
”And Allah is the best of planners.”
- Quran 8 : 30
— Why We Dream —
Where there is no vision, the people perish :
But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
- Proverbs 29 : 18
— Be Unrealistic —
JAY SHETTY : What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
RUSS : What if it can turn out better than you can imagine.
JAY SHETTY : Second question, what’s the worst advice you’ve ever received?
RUSS : Be realistic.
— Numbers Are Good —
The numbers are good with me
As long as it's comma then
Zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero, zero …
- Drake, “On The Radar”
— Who I Am —
You don't get what you want in life.
You get who you are!
- Les Brown
— Pocket Watch Parable and The Language of Dreamers —
A dying father called his son to his bedside and presented him with an old pocket watch. The father said, “Your grandfather gave this watch to me. It is more than 200 years old. But, before I give it to you, I want you to go to the watch shop and tell the owner you want to sell it. Ask him what price he would pay for it.”
The son went to the watch shop and then returned to his father’s bedside. He reported, “The watchmaker said he would pay $5 for the watch because it is old and scratched.”
The father then said to the son, “Go to the coffee shop and ask the owner if he would be interested in buying the pocket watch and what he would be willing to pay.”
The son ran to the coffee shop and quickly returned. He told his father, “The coffee shop owner said he didn’t have much use for an old pocket watch but offered $3 for it.”
Finally, the father told the son, “Go to the museum and show them the watch.”
The son left for the museum and returned with a look of astonishment on his face. He whispered, “Father, the curator at the museum offered me $1 million for this pocket watch!”
The father laid his head back, closed his eyes and said: “I wanted you to experience for yourself that the right place, and the right people, will value your value in the right way. Never put yourself in the wrong place, with the wrong people, and then get angry when you don’t feel valued. Don’t stay in a place, or with people, that don’t value your value. Know your worth and while being confident in your own value look for the value and the potential worth of others.”
6. #GeorgiaPeaches : Everything's Sweet
Pay close attention to the title …
Numbers and Dreamers :
Yesterday, I started the day
By heading to the Ponce Market
To purchase my family gifts …
I’ve learned that the best way
To keep receiving God’s blessings
Is to have an open hand
That gives freely to loved ones …
To head there
God sends a Tesla
As an Uber
And I find myself drawn
To its beauty …
And I allow myself to dream …
After exiting the vehicle
I send a text message to my mentor
Because I know that he won’t
Think that I’m crazy …
We believe God has our promises waiting
We must only reach our arms gently …
On my way back to the hotel
I am picked up by another Tesla …
This story has two parts …
The first is easy to understand
The second is written specifically
For a beautiful soul
So, you’re expected to be confused
As only she will know …
When I enter the Tesla
I ask the man about its costs
And he tells me the number …
”The numbers are good with me …”
Ask and you shall receive …
The dream no longer
Seemed so far-fetched
When I was willing
To ask courageously …
The man’s name was Omar.
— Without an umlaut —
That’s the second portion
Meant only for her understanding
If you’re confused …
Flow with it …
Long story short …
It was not until I entered the plane
That I looked back and saw
This beautiful message that God sent …
Allah is the best of planners.
Interlocked …
We leave Saint Germain Bakery
And it is as if the clouds are crying …
— Tears of joy —
It is so easy to love you …
So easy to sit across from you
And share everything I need to
So easy to be flawed, be fully human
Be unmasked and not fear your view …
I find myself falling more deeply for you …
Falling Through The Clouds …
In “The Art of Loving”, Erich Fromm writes :
— Immature love says : 'I love you because I need you.'
— Mature love says : 'I need you because I love you.'
I didn’t understand this
When I first read it at twenty …
Now I get it …
A love that is not dependent
— Rather interdependent —
A love locked in the present moment
Where one’s partner can be relied on
To fulfill commitments …
I hold no fear of the future …
My heart is in safe hands.
As we leave the cafe
You snap a picture of the street sign …
Interlock Ave.
Interlock …
Interlocked …
I envision next time
Our hands interlocked
As we cross the street …
Interlocked …
As they once were
While we sat in Max’s Tavern …
Interlocked …
I’ll hold your hands
After a stressful day of classes
Bearing the burden willingly
As you complete your PhD
At a nearby university …
Interlocked …
Hands intertwined
As we vacation
Travel and then dine
— Sleep —
… Then awake in the woods of Scandinavia …
I sprayed the scent
In the letter I sent
Yet, the ink faded a bit …
— Just as you thought my love would have —
But that’s immature love.
Mature love is cultivated daily.
— Always being rewritten —
So, as I noticed the ink starting to fade
I rewrote the text
Then offered many more sprays
And I sprayed wastefully …
… Love wastefully …
I’ll see you soon …
— Steps Divinely Orchestrated —
Last week, my best friend’s husband
Told me the parable of the pocket watch …
And I noticed that is one of the
Key ingredients in manifestation …
I only associate myself
With those on the same vibration …
”You don’t go to McDonald’s and ask for pizza.”
My mentor would tell me this often.
That’s why I surround myself with dreamers
I often keep certain dreams
Close to the chest when they are still developing
Have only about one or two
That I can trust who
Will nourish and nurture the visions
And help me see them through …
Surround yourself with dreamers …
I vow to carry no visions to the grave.
And with this mindset
Allah orders my steps graciously
And shows me a more beautiful path
That I had not yet conceived …
This new dream is still too young …
But, faithful reader, I’ll offer a sneak peak …
— Everything’s Sweet —
Remember when I asked you to pay attention to the title?
You didn’t forget, did you?
Why is the title so important?
Did you ever take time to read the “Note”
At the bottom of each poem this week?

*** NOTE :
Starting November 20th, 2023, there will be a shift in themes. I am headed to Atlanta, Georgia that week. Thus, I cannot enter that space with the same mindset I have in Springfield, Massachusetts because I am entering that space to relax and detach.
Thus, in honor of that, I will be writing a short series titled :
#GeorgiaPeaches : Everything’s Sweet.
The "#LifeIntoExistence” series will continue when I return.
It will be a beautifully detached journey — with no expectations.
Inshallah …

Thoughts become things …
We condition ourselves
With the thoughts we choose …
Now, do you understand
The importance
Of surrounding yourself with dreamers?
Even in the more difficult emotions
I held onto the notion :
”Everything’s Sweet”
And it was.
If I chose to see it that way.
So, it only made sense
To end the journey
At the Saint Germain bakery
— Surrounded by sweets —
Consuming a Georgia peach delicacy …
Allah is the best of planners.
Dream big.
